Rest in Peace Grandma

My grandma Bollinger passed away last week after a long battle with cancer.  She will be missed. Most of the family spent today together at a memorial celebration of Milly’s life.  I wasn’t able to be there today, but I was asked to put together a memorial slide show to be shown at the event.  With the help of my cousin Ryan and other family members, I was able to get all of the photos digitally here in Florida.  I then spent any extra time I had on building this show in After Effects.  (this wasn’t easy given all of the ...

I have my head in the Cloud

I am quite particular in my choice of video games…I like multiplayer.  I am also a PC (non-console) player. Cloud style gaming is becoming quite a trend in the past year and a half that really opens up the ease of multiplayer games.  I jumped on board with the release of the Steam cloud gaming system.  They premiered Left 4 Dead, a 1st person shooter where you and 3 other players make your way through hoards of zombies to safety.  There are a bunch of different playing styles where 8 players can play in one game.  Left 4 Dead 2 ...

The TransPorters (March of Dimes)

So here is our official emblem of the TransPorters. If you haven’t been following the excitement on Facebook or Twitter, then you been missing out on the fundraising efforts of of my wife and I (mostly my wife). But we started raising money for a March of Dimes walk in celebration of Porter’s 1st birthday and to help support the efforts that go towards premature births. We originally set our goal as $350 dollars for each day that Porter was alive by the time we did the walk, but we found so much wonderful support. Before ...

March for Babies

My wife was checking out the March of Dimes website and discovered that our local chapter was having a fundraising walk only 5 days before Porter’s first birthday (April 15).  She thought that maybe it would be a fun way to celebrate Porter’s first year while enjoying the spring weather and raising money for a great cause. We have decided to call our team The Trans-PORTERs (trust me, it is better than some of the other names we threw around) and we are looking for people to join us on the walk.  We have ...

Piratechnical on the iPhone

It was bound to happen sometime.  I have now made it possible for those with iPhones to see my blog in a mobile format.  Use Safari to go to Piratechnical.com and you will be welcomed by this format: You will still be able to see photos and leave comments.  Some video might be brought up in YouTube and/or not play.  I am sure there will be some updates along the way to make it look more snazzy, but for now, you don’t have to worry about zooming in and panning across to read tiny print. Let me know what you think.

Jon Shimon won!!!

Jon Shimon won a free master class through Live Design. He has a choice of going to the 3 day lighting, sound or projection classes in New York City. I believe his choice is projections, and I might be next in line if he can’t go. (so watch your back Shimon)

Who are these USITT People

Well, I have been asked this question by the locals, and tried my best to explain what theater is… But I really just want to post pictures of some of the faces and things I have seen at USITT so far.  This is just a sampling.  I need to get a lot better at taking pictures of everyone I see.  There are probably many familiar faces in this crowd.  (and they are not all FSU folk). Sorry some of these photos are blurry…the iPhone can only do so much.
